A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of recording a podcast on Hey Bride with Host Susana Rodriguez. Susana is a born and raised Dominican living in DC, USA. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and a passion for love, this former journalist and news anchor decided to follow her passion and host the Hey Bride show. She contacted the magazine after being connected through Twitter and explained that her site interviewed former brides, asking for tips and advice to share with bride-to-be’s. I loved the idea and we set a time for us to record an episode.

Best advice when choosing a wedding magazine: Shop local magazines as you can see real weddings and actually use the vendors that advertise.
Best advice when stressing out: Remember the reason why you are getting married: the rest of your life with the man of your dreams. The rest is icing on the cake!
Things that brides might overlook: 1)Music: make sure to add some songs that mean something to you throughout the whole wedding not just the first dance (i.e.: teenage years, first song we danced, etc.) Also slideshows and Photobooth can add something extra special to your wedding.
Things that brides might stress about, but shouldn’t: Small details, like colors: if you can’t get the exact same swatch for everything, don’t stress about it. Mismatch is ok! – (and other small details)
How to stick to budget: Keep yourself accountable with each other. Decide together when something costs over X amount of dollars.
Splurge regret: “I wish I would have spend more in photographer and videographer” – The photos and videos is what’s going to stay with them forever and you get what you pay for.
